Current Volunteer opportunities
Any time that you’d like to volunteer at the SESTL, we invite you either to email us to let us know, or simply to drop by during our open hours.
We can definitely use all the help we can get, even if it’s only for a couple hours!
Drop-in Opportunites:
- Tool repair or sharpening
- Inventorying donated tools
- Workshop cleanup
For those who would like to make a more consistent commitment, please consider taking on one of the following roles.
Open Hours Staffer
Help keep the doors open at the tool library. Welcome folks from the community into the tool library, check out tools, sign up new members, and inventory donated tools. Knowledge of tools is helpful but expertise is not necessary!
- Estimated Time Commitment: 2 hours per month
Tool Doctor!
Do you get your zen from the art of rototiller maintenance? This position is the perfect match for someone who likes to take stuff apart and put it back together.
The Tool Library receives a large number of tool donations, many of which need a little maintenance before being put into service.
If you have tool maintenance/repair skills, and an interest in teaching others, we’ve also got a ready crew of eager but less-skilled volunteers that would be eager to learn from you!
- Estimated time commitment: Flexible
Education Coordinator
The tool library would really like to begin offering classes more frequently to its members, but could use help in organizing events that would be useful to the community. An education coordinator can help coordinate our class lineup, recruit instructors, and promote the classes themselves.
- Estimated time commitment: 3 hours per month
Community Outreach Ambassador
Help to connect the Tool Library to local non-profits, community groups, neighborhood associations, and individuals by being one of our Outreach Ambassadors. We get invited to engage with a variety of groups and organizations across SE Seattle, but our all-volunteer staff only has a limited bandwidth and availability to attend these events. We could use your help in developing community connections, and alerting people to the useful resources that we make available to the SE Seattle community!
- Estimated time commitment: 3 hours (2-3 events) per month
Please contact us at info@setools.org for more information or to sign up to volunteer.
